Project 1: Self portrait

We were required to produce self portrait and i decided to based my self portrait on my hobbies which are swimming and hiking.
The reason why I enjoy these hobbies are due to the peace and tranquility I experience while performing these activities. They enrich my soul of being a peaceful and carm individual.
Hence, I decided to blend both the rainforest and sea as one single entity while having myself sandwiched in between.
My self portrait reads -
'Although the waves of the sea were fierce, but I could still remain calm. This is to imply that no matter how hard life gets, I will still take hold of things and have them under control. Also, these hardships shaped me into a better individual.'
behind every hard work, there is supportive friends working towards the final accomplishment.
Project 2: 1:1 Scale model

In a group of 3, we extracted a few of our characteristics and applied them into this model.
We have chosen the theme nature and privacy.
This model was made of cardboards and because of the thick base, it was really solid and weighed a lot too.
The shadows casted by the criss-crosses of the sides at the base mimics the rainforest bed. As you lay inside, you will be charmed by how comfortable it is.
My character has 2 very different personalities. She appears to be very approachable, friendly, kind and cheerful to the others but deep inside she has a lot of frustration, anger, confusion and internal conflicts going on. Based on her personalities, I developed 2 contrasting public and private spaces. The public space, takes form of a smooth and even roof. The entrance is tall as well and it is very spacious inside, indicating her inviting everyone into her life. (cont.)
(cont.) In contrast, this is a small enclosed area with edgy, uneven and rough exterior. This reflects all the conflicts she has inside. The private area is hung at the ceiling of the public space, indicating her trying to shield her negativity with her positive side. The concept of the private space is taken from a tree house. Users can have all the privacy they need and although the area is really small, but users will not experience discomfort due to the material selected, timber.
External panels were invited to give us critiques on our designs. I am thankful for the advice given from the experienced panels.

Project 3: City Dream Space
The movie selected to base our buidling was Fifth Element
In a group of 5, we chose the location which the 'Fifth Element' was created. After recreating the site, we proceed to developing our chosen character.
I have chosen to be a laboratory professor who doesn't enjoy her job.
